What Is Decarbonization?
Decarburization refers to the insufficient carbon content of cemented carbide after sintering. The tungsten carbide powder is decarburized during the sintering of cemented carbide, and the microstructure changes from WC-Co to W2CCo2 or W3CCo3. The ideal carbon content of tungsten carbide in cemented carbide (WC) is 6.13% by weight. When the carbon content is too low, the product will have obvious carbon deficiency structure.
Decarburization will greatly reduce the strength of tungsten carbide cemented carbide and make it more brittle.
