Ammonium Paratungstate Decomposition

Ammonium paratungstate (APT) can produce ammonium metatungstate, yellow tungsten oxide and blue tungsten oxide by thermal decomposition, then to produce tungsten powder, tungsten products, tungsten compounds and down stream products like tungsten carbide products, tungsten wire, tungsten rod, etc..

Calcinating ammonium paratungstate can produce tungsten oxide, there are two main processes:
1.Calcinating APT in the air with temperature over 600℃, APT losses all of ammonia and water vapor, then completely converts into tungsten trioxide.
2.Calcinating ammonium paratungstate in a weakly reducing atmosphere can lose water and ammonia molecular, blue tungsten oxide can be obtained, mixture of a large part of WO2.9, WO2.72 and small amount of WO3 and WO2.

Ammonium paratungstate (APT) thermal decomposition method producing ammonium metatungstate is the typical and main process to produce AMT by solid phase transition method which is the mostly common used. The proper temperature for ammonium paratungstate thermal decomposition method producing ammonium metatungstate is 210~265℃.
