Nature and Stability

Tungsten dichloride dioxide is stable under normal temperature and pressure, which is suggested to avoid the material of moisture and wet oxide, alkali metal, is thin yellow platelets which is sensitive to atmospheric moisture. Therefore, the reaction tube must be opened and stored under vacuum or dry inert gas in a dry nitrogen atmosphere. Tungsten dichloride dioxide can decompose in hot water, soluble in ammonia, alkali, but insoluble in ethanol.

Storage

Tungsten dichloride dioxide should be stored in a closed atmosphere at room temperature which is filled with cool dry inert gas.

Toxicological Data

Tungsten dichloride dioxide has acutely toxic, the primary irritant effect as follows:
On the skin: It causes corrosive influence on the skin and mucous membranes, stimulates skin and mucous membrane;
On the eyes: It has strong corrosive and irritating effects on the eyes, but has no known sensitizing influence.

Ecological data

Tungsten dichloride dioxide is usually slightly harmful to water, undiluted or a number of products should not reach the ground water, water course or sewage system; also, without the government permission, no this material is allowed to discharged into the surrounding environment.
